FORT LEE, Va. – Soldiers from across Fort Lee will support the Virginia Best of the Best State Raider Meet Competition set for March 26 at Pocahontas State Park.
The competition will feature over 100 Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corps cadets from across the state. Competitive activities and judging will take place from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Maj. Gen. Mark T. Simerly, Combined Arms Support Command and Fort Lee commanding general, will be on-site in support of the Army’s March to Service initiative – a two-week effort to reconnect and generate community support for the Army and recruiting.
WHAT: Virginia Best of the Best State Raider Meet Competition
WHEN: March 26, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
WHERE: Pocahontas State Park, 10301 State Park Rd, Chesterfield, Va.
The JROTC teams will compete in a series of challenging events including a litter carry, logistics relay, 5K run, one-rope bridge, and a team physical fitness test. The event also will feature static displays of equipment used by the Transportation, Ordnance and Quartermaster Schools at Fort Lee.
March to Service, which runs from March 21-31, has Army leaders heading outside the gates to meet with community and education representatives across the country to ensure they understand the opportunities and benefits available through military service.
