FORT LEE, Virginia – A 15-year-old girl was wounded here Sunday afternoon during a shooting incident.
Fort Lee’s Provost Marshal’s Office took a 15-year-old boy into custody in connection with the shooting. The post’s Army Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the incident, which took place near a bus stop in a family housing area and is suspected to have been accidental.
Fort Lee Emergency Medical Services personnel responding to the scene treated a gunshot wound to the victim’s pelvic region. She was then transported in stable condition by helicopter to Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond.
Both teens reside on Fort Lee. Identities are being withheld due to the ages of the victim and suspect.
